William Dartmouth calls on TTIP documents to be released fully to public, not just MEPs

Today the “College of Commissioners” approved access for MEPs to all categories of the controversial Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). “Consolidated texts” will also be available which reflect the US position. Restrictions do apply however with the MEP only being allowed to read the text in a secure reading room and that the confidential nature of the information must not be compromised so as “to protect EU interests.

William Dartmouth MEP demands action to prevent Chinese steel dumping

William Dartmouth MEP and UKIP Trade spokesman has written to EU Trade Commissioner Malmström demanding that action must be taken to prevent further Chinese steel imports being sold at a lower price of production in the UK, which has already led to the loss of thousands of British jobs. Following this it has emerged that the UK government has requested an emergency EU meeting to discuss this crisis.

TTIP 'nightmare' will lead to 'European disintegration'

When I took up office in July, I listened to the discussions about the transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP) in parliament's international trade committee, and I had the impression everything was set in stone, that the ratification of TTIP was certain and that there was nothing I could do to stop it. It seemed to me like I was trying to halt a train that was launched at full speed. Nevertheless, I kept voicing my dissent and my firm belief that TTIP is the biggest scam Europe has seen in decades. I do not oppose TTIP because I am protectionist or anti-American; the US is a key strategic partner and I am convinced that trade can and must be used as a tool for development and for increasing our prosperity, but frankly speaking, TTIP has nothing to do with trade.

EU looks to fast track Ukraine trade deal despite warnings of ‘perceived provocation’ from UKIP

The EU International Trade Committee, INTA, has voted to fast track a free trade deal with Ukraine in a quick vote, despite warnings from UKIP MEPs that such a move could be perceived as provocative by Russia. Amjad Bashir and William Dartmouth led calls for the EU to show sensitivity due to tensions with Russia, warning that a rushed deal with the beleaguered state and her neighbours could be regarded as provocative by Putin.
