The Parliament voted for phase IV of the Emissions Trading Scheme. This will crucify European industry to the benefit of China and India. The report is happy to allow increased Commission power over Member States’ governments.
Brexit really is happening. The Parliament decided how to redistribute our 73 seats (triggering a minimum two year period where Mrs May is content to allow taxation of our citizens without representation). 27 of our seats will be reallocated to certain other Member States. The remaining 46 will remain vacant in anticipation of further enlargement. A plan to use some of these for the new concept of Pan European MEPs was defeated. However, the discriminatory Spitzenkandidaten process for choosing the Commission President was re-affirmed.
